At Game Night, Izy lended me this book they got recently.
I am J, by Cris Beam is a book about a transgender boy (ftm/trans male) named J. It all about him figuring out he is transgender. Facing sexual orantastion, and coming out to himself and friends.
Izy told me this book, unlike others, don’t end with a tragic end. And I am very glad it doesn’t.
Short summary on the back of the book: “J had always felt different. He was certain that eventually everyone would understand who he really was: a boy mistakenly born as a girl. Yet as he grew up, his body began to betray him; eventually J stopped praying to wake up a “real boy” and started covering up his body, keeping himself invisible-from his parents, from his friends, from the world. But after being deserted by the best friend he thought would always be by his side, J decides that he’s done hiding-he’s ready to be who he really is. And this time he is determined not to give up, no matter the cost.”
I recommend this book to anyone, weather they are transgender or not. The story is not the typical stories I read (fantasy-fiction, or sic-fi), yet I stilled enjoyed it.
Check to book out and see if it is something you might want to read.
